AMS Theater

Theatre productions allow A Moving Sound's co founder Mia Hsieh to go deep into her artistic roots of sound and movement to create rich tapestry's of vocal and dance expression. A Moving Sound presents one or two new productions a year, each based on the exploration of a specific concept or personal motivation. The creative process is engaged in such a way that ideas are used as seeds and personal experience is transcended to create universal metaphor. In one performance Inner River the music score consisted entirely of the dancer's singing and created language. In the most recent performance Before the Light A Moving Sound’s music ensemble accompanied a cast of dancers and circus performers to create a modern creation myth based on new ideas and ancient Asian traditions. These performances involve intensive staging, lighting, costume and design.
